Practicing awareness of micro aggression

Today’s is actually very interesting since we really experience it on a daily basis consciously or unconsciously the most that I see is express at work as I see it between the dtudent they treat each other in such an intensional manner as the insult each other’s race , religion, gender, sexuality every day all the time they like to make each other feel inferior so Sade what our youth is learning from their parents and educators since some educators do manifest the same behavior unfortunately.

Anther example of micro aggression is how my son is treated in his school according to his race as it is done in a harmful manner but not consciously by the teachers, the principle as they do not believe him nor me that he is being bullied by his class mate thought the complianhas been done by us not by others and I believe that becomes of our race and religion the unconsciously saying that no he is  not. This has been very stressful on me and my son I feel like there is no help or support offered to us but hopefully it will soon .

perspective on diversity andculture

For this assignment I ask two different female coworkers about their opinion on culture and diversity and they both had different opinions. The first stated that culture and diversity is defined by  language and that if you don’t have your own language you do not have culture and if one does not preserve their language they can not perverse their culture. The second one stated that culture and diversity  in her opinion is the  way people are raised depending on their heritage how their parents raised them as children is what defines people culture and identity. The third stated that language, traditions, and holiday.

I believe that their definition is some what a shallow definition though it has some deep cultural aspects to them as heritage but others are more towards the surface such as traditions, language. MY thoughts on culture and diversity have already been changed through this course so by asking them for their definitions  i felt that they only touched on the surface of the meaning rather than reaching deep in to the deep rich meaning of the concept as it is explained in the course reading.

additionally i believe that the answer that stated that culture is your heritage is an example of how group culture has effect on shaping the identity of individualizes and the roles they take in life as they are tough how they should behave in certain situation or live their life. The one response that actually i did not think very deep about but went back and did some reading is how language is a culture definition as the preservation of langue can empower individuals in different situations, and keep their heritage from being lost as i read through the text book Smidt, S. (2006). The developing child in the 21st century .

I believe all definitions of culture are correct there is no right or wrong definition it might be that one is more critical than the other but the are as important as the other according to the society the individual belongs to.

family culture

In  case of  a catastrophe happening  to my country i would take the traditional dress my grandmother used to wear, the holy book of my religion, and a picture of my home. the traditional dress because it is unique to my country and it reminds me of my grand mother who is very dear to my heart, the ho;y book it something that helps my faith protects me with its holy words as i believe and guide me through life. A picture of my home so i would look st it every time i would get home sick so it will give me hope that i will one day maybe go back home.

If i was told  that i would have to give away some of them and only keep one would be feelings of heartbroken, sadness, disappointment, that haven’t life taken enough from me but may be the one thing that i would keep would be able to help me through this. Since i would choose to keep my holy book i think things would become better, this taught me that i am a person of faith and that as important culture is for me my faith comes first it is my culture and my identity that i chose to live by.
